Editing a Person

There will be times when you need to update a person’s profile to keep their information current.

This is done through the ‘People’ module in iKnow.

In the People module, search for the person whose details you need to update.  Select the person from the list of Search Results and click the ‘Edit’ button at the top right of the page.

You can now add any missing information, or update existing information, about the person.  So, for example, we can change the email address, add a Twitter handle, add a Date of Birth and so on.  Once you have made your changes, don’t forget to click the ‘Save’ button.

To update an address or landline number, click the ‘Relationships/Address’ tab at the top of the page, click the ‘Edit Address’ button and enter the new address details.  Again, don’t forget to click the ‘Save Address’ button at the bottom of the page.

If someone is moving away from a family address, for example, someone may be starting university and moving out of the family home, you will need to move them out of the family address in iKnow.

In the ‘People’ module, search for the person who is moving out, click their name in the Search Results, click the ‘Edit’ button at the top right of the page and click the ‘Relationships/Address’ tab.  You will see the current address details on the page, however, if you just edit the existing details with the new address, you will change the address for the whole family.

In the search bar, labelled ‘Enter postcode or surname’, type the postcode of the address they are moving to.  Next click ‘Add New Address’ and you will see that the address details are cleared.  Enter the new address details and click the ‘Save Address’ button at the bottom of the page.  The person will then be moved to their own address in iKnow.

You can also move someone into an address, for example, a person coming back from University and moving back into their parents home.

Find the person who is moving in to the address, in the ‘People’ module, click their name in the Search Results, click the ‘Edit’ button and click the ‘Relationships/Address’ tab at the top of the page.

In the search bar, type the surname of the family whose house they will be moving into, or type the postcode of the address they will be moving into.  You will see a list of matches below the search bar. Find the correct household and click on it.  The address details will be added automatically, then click the ‘Save Address’ button at the bottom of the page.
